About Us
The College of Podiatrists of Manitoba (COPOM) is the regulatory authority overseeing the practice of podiatry in Manitoba. We ensure that podiatrists meet established standards to provide safe and competent care. Our Council comprises elected podiatrists and appointed public representatives who guide our operations. Together, we uphold the integrity and professionalism of podiatric practice in the province.

HOW TO REGISTER
The Registration Process
Download the Information Package
Start by downloading the full registration information package directly from the COPOM website.
Prepare and Submit Required Documents + Fees
Gather all required documents and pay applicable fees. These include:
Basic Life Support certification
Educational certification (BSc Podiatric Medicine or equivalent)
Employment reference
Moral character reference
Criminal record check
CME documentation (Continuing Medical Education minimums)
Await Confirmation & Feedback
Once your application is received, COPOM will review your documents and provide confirmation and feedback via email within four weeks.
Registrar’s Final Decision
The Registrar will issue a written decision—either acceptance or rejection—within three months of confirmation.
As of January 1st, 2026, all applicants must have successfully completed course #CHPH800 at The Michener Institute of Education Toronto, or equivalent prior to registration.
Please note that as part of this process you may be required to undergo a clinical skills examination and/or a written examination prior to a license to practice being granted. If deemed necessary the fees for these examinations are to be paid by the applicant.
Please note that applications will not be processed until all documentation and fees are received.
If your application is rejected, you have the option to initiate an appeal through COPOM’s appeal process.

Please be advised that if you have received credentials from an educational institution not noted on our website your application will undergo an educational equivalency process.

What is Podiatry?
The Podiatry Act defines the practice of Podiatry as “the use of medical, physical, or surgical methods to prevent, diagnose and treat ailments, diseases, deformities and injuries of the human foot, but does not include treatment of systemic disease except for the local manifestations in the foot.”
Who is Podiatry governed by?
Podiatry is governed by an Act of provincial legislation: Chapter 36, The Podiatrists Act, which appoints a licensing body to regulate the profession, to ensure qualification standards in its membership, to actively further skills and training, and to promote understanding of the profession.
Who is the licensing body for Podiatry in Manitoba?
That licensing body is called the College of Podiatrists of Manitoba (COPOM).
One of the main functions of the COPOM is protection of the public by ensuring that podiatrists follow the standards of practice for podiatry.
COPOM is a body where the public can address any concerns regarding how podiatry is practiced by its registrants.
